Company Background
Our client is an established steel manufacturer specializing in the production of billets and steel bars for the construction industry. Strategically located in Pasir Gudang, Johor, the company is recognized as one of the prominent steel manufacturing players in the state. Through strategic investments and acquisitions, our client is building an integrated steel value chain across Southeast Asia while strengthening its presence in Malaysia's steel industry. Its key subsidiaries include prefabricated steel reinforcement products, rebar trading, and the manufacturing and sale of wire mesh fencing products, as well as the fabrication of reinforcement steel products for the construction and building industry.
Purpose:
To ensure the company's environmental compliance in accordance with statutory requirements, and to oversee the proper operation, maintenance, and performance including dust, noise, erosion, sediment, and waste.
Responsibility:
- Implement and maintain with environmental laws and DOE requirements policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with environmental laws, DOE requirements, and project EMP.
- Implement environmental control measures including dust, noise, erosion, sediment, and waste management.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, environmental audits, and risk assessments.
- Identify hazards, evaluate risks, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
- Manage scheduled waste in accordance with DOE regulations.
- Liaise with authorities, consultants, and clients on environmental matters and inspections.
- Investigate environmental incidents, complaints, and non-compliance issues with corrective actions.
- Conduct environmental awareness briefings and training for site personnel.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and pollution prevention measures on site.
- Maintain environmental permits, licenses, and compliance records.
- Support EIA compliance and environmental requirements where applicable.
- Work closely with HSE and project team to meet environmental targets.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by superior.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Green Book Holder (Registered Safety & Health Officer with DOSH) is an added advantage.
- Niosh Safety & Health Officer (SHO) certificate is an advantage.
- For environmental roles, CePSWAM, CePIETSO, or other DOE certifications are added advantages.
- Certificate / competency in Bag Filter operation or environmental control equipment.
- Minimum 2 - 5 years' experience in SHE or EHS role.
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, logistics, or similar high-risk industries preferred.
- Familiar with DOE regulations, Environmental Quality Act, and EMP implementation.
- Experience in handling scheduled waste and environmental monitoring.
- Possess CIDB Green Card
Location: Pasir Gudang, Johor
Salary Range: Up to RM6k
